- Do I need to install any software to use Split Court?
- No. Since only a browser is required, with Split Court you can convert your Exhibits online without any extra software. No need to download and pay for software or get your IT department to install the software.
- How long does it take to split a file using Split Court?
- The file splitting process itself takes only seconds per file. The time it takes to upload and download the files to and from Split Court will depend on the speed of your internet connection. However in most case these take only a few minutes and can be done in the background while you work on more important things.
- What if my Court needs a different size of PDF document?
- Because different Courts and filing authorities have different file size requirements, Split Court allows you to choose what size you want your split exhibits to be. You can set your output documents to be anything from 1 to 15 megabytes.
- What if I need the file split by page numbers rather than by size?
- Split Court allows you to choose whether to split your PDF Exhibits by file size or by number of pages. When page number splitting is selected, you will be given the choice of number of pages and the document will be split in accordance with the number of pages selected. For example if you chose to split a 55 page document in 10 page increments, Split Court will split the original document into 6 files; pages 1-10, 11-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50 and 51-55.
- I selected to have my split Exhibits emailed to me but I never got them and had to download them instead.
- Although it is becoming less and less common, some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have a size limit on attachments to emails. Many do not give you a warning that they blocked an email with a large attachment, they simply do not send it on to you. If you are not sure that your ISP will allow large attachments, download your split documents when you are at the final processing page. Since the documents are kept on the server for ten days unless you choose to delete them, you can always log in to your account later and download them.
- How long do you store my PDF documents?
- You have the option of deleting your documents from the server at any time, however unless you delete them earlier, all PDF documents (original and split) are deleted automatically after ten days.
- Is the site secure?
- Yes. All pages where sensitive information is sent, such as the Credit Card Payment Page, the Registration Page and others, are served over Split Court's secure server. All of the original documents and split documents are stored in secure locations. For additional information see Split Court, Inc.'s Terms of Use
- Are there any situations where an original document cannot be split?
- Yes, although it is very usual. It is possible that an original document has a single page that itself exceeds the size limit. This will only happen where the file size required by the Court is very low and the document contains high quality and high resolution graphics. In such a situation Split Court cannot split the document because the excessively large page is itself bigger than the allowed size. This can usually be remedied by scanning the original document again at a lower resolution. Most scanners are set to scan a document at 600 dpi (dots per inch). If you set it to 400 or lower, the scan itself will be smaller in size and the page will then most likely be less than the Court's limit. You can then process the document using Split Court.
- What is a PDF document?
- Information about PDF documents can be found at Wikipedia.
